TWO GREAT WONDERS OF THE WORLD - Rovos Rail and Victoria Falls
We recently launched our exclusive offer on The Blue Train for a trip from Pretoria to Cape Town. It sold out in just one day. Since then we have secured space on the equally luxurious (some say more so) Rovos Rail, this time on a journey from Pretoria, north through Zimbabwe to Victoria Falls.
Our 11 night, 12 day experience really is the ultimate in African travel. You start with a leisurely 3 night train journey north into Zimbabwe where we enjoy a game drive in the famous Hwange National Park, before arriving Victoria Falls on Day 4. After a brief transfer we arrive at the luxurious Victoria Falls Hotel where we stay for 2 glorious nights within the sounds of the mighty, cascading waters. We will enjoy a tour of the Falls and a relaxing sunset cruise, before heading back to Cape Town ready for the 2nd Test. Time in this vibrant city to soak up the youthful lifestyle and great climate.
Choose your train suite and book today. It’s a once in a lifetime experience.
Space is very limited, so do not delay. No other train journey of this style is operating around the 3 Tests, so there are no alternates!

Please include warm clothing for cold mornings and evenings. On long journeys we enjoy theme evenings where guests can dress up accordingly or opt for smart casual.
Mobile Devices and Internet
In maintaining the spirit of travel of a bygone era, there are no radios or television sets on board. The use of mobile phones, laptops and essentially anything that has the ability to disturb other passengers is confined to the privacy of your suites.
Smoking is only allowed in the Club Lounge.
THE LOCOMOTIVES
There’s a story behind each loco, its procurement and restoration, and they all have their own distinctive character and charm.
The oldest engine in the stable is also the smallest and still sees occasional use. It is one of the oldest mainline working locos in the world. The Class 6, 439 TIFFANY, was built by Dubs & Co. of Scotland in 1894 for the Cape Government Railway. It has a 4-6-0 wheel arrangement, weighs 76 tons and has a Belpaire firebox-type boiler, which is more efficient than the original round-top fireboxes.
TIFFANY was used for shunting in later years and, on being withdrawn from service, was cosmetically restored and placed as a monument on Winburg Station in the Free State. Rohan spotted her on his travels and was drawn to her classic steam-loco lines; he purchased her in 1987. Dunns Locomotive in Witbank undertook the initial task of returning her to the rails and, with the original Rovos Rail workshops being close by, Rovos staff undertook the painstaking refurbishment. It was the first loco to be painted in the now familiar Rovos green – an automotive paint, thus its excellent finish.
